Please be advised that from March 4th 2019 through to May 2019 there will be a continuous road closure to allow for work on the piers. Please use the detour routes provided and please obey all traffic personnel and signage to ensure a safe working environment. We appreciate your patience.

Project Summary

The Main Street Bridge, located between Isabel St. and Hammond Avenue and owned by the City of Thunder Bay, will be undergoing a two-year rehabilitation project starting in May 2018 and continuing to August 2019. The purpose of this project is to improve and repair key elements of the structure in order to increase its lifespan and provide a reliable and safe means of transportation for years to come.

The project will be completed over the course of two separate phases. During each construction phase, partial and full road closures will periodically occur. This website will provide updated details with regards to the dates of these closures and the detoured traffic routes. Any construction updates will also be regularly updated here.

Detour Route

During full road closures, the following detour route will be implemented:
